I know it seems hard to believe but we've been freezing our tails off the last few days...Ever since Silverthorne, Co we have been looking winter directly in the face. This morning we left Saratoga Camp ground in Wyoming, the temp held in at 41 degrees and then as we moved north toward Rawlins the temperatures dipped to 36 degrees and head winds of 20+ miles per hour. Along with the wind came the rain and the sleet that soaked us to the core, now add the speed of the bike at 15mph and you've got a recipe for a biker slushy, I haven't been that cold for some time, I started to sing Christmas songs...and it's June!

Made our way up I-80 and the truckers really worked in our favor breaking the wind and allowing us to make better times through this big hilly, windy, and beautiful state. It was so cold that I put on two pairs of riding gloves, and extra set of leggings and I even put a pair of socks over (not under) my riding shoes, our feet were like ice cubes.
We rode up to Lamont but came back south to Rawlins and are guest of a little Nazarene church today. We called them about 4 hours before arrival and they took us in, even let us use their own shower and rest room in their house .Pastor Dave and his wife Lori minister at this small church, but they seem very content in their ministry.

Well that's about it, Chris Stephens and Scott Dovey join us tonight, they;re flying into Denver and will make the 3+ hour trip to Rawlins, I'm looking forward to seeing them, even at 3-4 in the morning. I started the day as I always do reading Oswald Chambers daily Devotional, the one for today was entitled, "Don't Slack Off" boy was that one ever timely, and it's not only when you're riding a bike, it's also most pointed at the Christian life. We haven't gotten this far on our bikes by riding when we felt like it, and we don't make a lasting impact on others in our life or the life of the church by being obedient only when we feel like it, so here's the word, "Don't Slack Off" serve the Lord with gladness, until next time.
Scott ...aka...The Rust Rider

Michael Stephens and Marvin Tallent are a blessing to have on this trip...word for the day from Michael..."You shouldn't have to peddle down hill, it's not fair." (head winds)

Hey riders, I know you are cold and probably will get colder, so bundle up and stay warm. And I love the part Scott where you are singing Christmas songs!!! By the way, the last week or so here in Zachary, LA it has been mid to high 90's with the heat index over 100. I don't know which would be better for riding--at least if you are cold you can put more layers on! I so look forward to the blog updates and the pictures---yall are really getting to see our country in a totally different way than most people ever do. Our God is so awesome!!!! Keep peddling and we will keep the prayers and thoughts going for you!

God bless all of you,

Pam

Hi, Pastor,
I took time today to read every single blog note and view every single photo since the day you left, and I am just amazed at your adventures. Indeed, I have been praying for your good health and good weather - hummm. . . . winds and cold and hills and miscellaneous bumps in the road seem to be your partners. Oh, but I know you are strong, and we are all so very, very proud of you. I know we will all be anxious to hear the adventure/misadventure stories when you return.

Pastor Dave and his wife Lori took us in here at their church, on very short notice, like we were long lost relatives. They took us to a buffet dinner last night and we had a great church service with them today. Dave took Scott to Laramie, Wyoming to pick up the other Scott and Chris. We are awaiting their return. This kind of hospitality is what we have encountered throughout our trip and it is a blessing many times over.

Does rust freeze?
Just for a small dose of "reality", I was at work the other day at 4 am and the temp outside was 86. The load on the semi doesn't get any lighter with age either. Glad you guys are still truckin. Wish I was there. Mountain shots make me want to go on vacation.

#2 SAG driver here--Wish we could share some heat with you, sounds like you could use it up in the Rockies. Yesterday in middle GA it was 97 degress at 6PM.

Had a great time with you guys--I was exhausted each day watching you ride 90-100 miles and all I did was drive the covered wagon. Driving across OK, KS and eastern CO made me realize how good God is to us and what a what a beautiful creation He put at our disposal.

After leaving you guys last week I got up the the AF Academy to relive "back in the day". Thanks for helping me get there.

Ride safe...

What a truley awesome God we have!!!! If you did not know, they had RV trouble yesterday and were broke down on the side of the road. Prayers went out from a lot of different places, and boy did God listen!!! I am sure Scott will fill in the details, but for now, everyone who reads this, please lift up praises to our wonderful Heavenly Father for answerd prayers!!! And riders, if you were down, I hope now you are so high your feet do not touch the ground!!!
Please continue to keep them in prayers each day!
God bless,

Pam
